Rayland camp was born September 19 2012. He was taken straight from delivery to the NICU where he spent the next t 6 weeks. Doctors where we live didn’t know what to tell us. We were sent to a bigger hospital about 5 hours from home. We were told he wouldn’t make it beyond a year old. He had cataracts as many of our children do and also had a feeding tube placed. Rayland had 2 mild seizures when he was about 3 months old and they are well controlled with medication. He started to smile around 6 months which we were told he wouldn’t do. He had surgery to remove cataracts at 2 and 2.5 months and has had contacts since. Rayland is very good at letting you know when something is wrong. August of 2013 Rayland went in the hospital for a cold which went downhill over the next 9 days. August 20th 2013 Rayland went into respiratory failure and was air lifted 5 hours from home. We were told to prepare for the worst as Rayland was put on a ventilator and then an oscillator. We had a very rough 4 weeks but Rayland pulled through. He actually even started teething on the vent tube. Sept 24 2013 we got to bring him home shortly after he started giggling and was responding to things appropriately. He does not have the balls on his hips or shoulders and we are seeing a spine specialist soon for scoliosis and to check for stenosis. He eats orally and has times where he doesn’t do so well but he doesn’t give up. He is 22 months old and we live in Pensacola Florida. He is 9 lbs 6 ounces and around 21 inches long. He LOVED bright colors and lights. We are currently struggling with his feeding tube getting blocked from the inside.
